Discovery Story

The Fort Worth–printed note was found in routine circulation. No additional discovery details were provided.

The Washington DC–printed note's owner shared:

I live in the Kansas City area on the Missouri side, and have two jobs, one on the Kansas side and one on the Missouri side. I don't know which state I found the note in though. I have a friend who was always looking at his $1 bills, so I asked him what he was looking for. I'm sure he gave me all the specifics then, but I only remembered he was looking for star notes. Part of my job, at the beginning and end of my work shifts, is counting money, so I kept an eye out and would take all the star notes (I would trade them for non star notes I had, not steal them, just to be clear), and then I would trade him. My friend moved out of the country, but I still looked for, and collected them. So eventually I had a decent stack of star notes and nothing to do with them, so looked into it further, and found out what the reason was, and the rest of the specifics. I went through the stack I had collected and found this one, so I researched even more and found your website and registered the serial number.

Both discoveries were submitted independently and later confirmed as a matched pair by Project 2013B.
